Pray the Daily Examen

The Daily Examen is a practice of prayerful reflection on the events of the day. It is designed to help individuals increase awareness of God’s presence and discern his direction for us.

Examen is adapted from the technique described by St. Ignatius Loyola in his book Spiritual Exercises. Ignatius suggests that the Examen be practiced twice a day, once at noon and once at the end of the day.

Here are some ways to practice Examen:

Abide in Jesus with a “Rule of Life”

A “Rule of Life” frees us to walk with God in every area of life.

A Rule of Life is not meant to limit; instead, it liberates us by providing life-giving rhythms and structures to our day and week. It is a wonderful way to make God the center of our life as we keep ourselves in a state of spiritual and physical health.

Pray through “Stations of the Cross”

“Lord Jesus, help us to walk in your steps.”

This is a 25-minute audio prayer guide, designed to help listeners walk through the events of Good Friday in contemplative prayer. Each of the fourteen “stations” offers listeners the opportunity to invite Jesus to help us walk in the way of the cross.

This practice can you help deepen your trust of Jesus, whether on Good Friday or any other day!
