Ministry Residency

Immanuel’s Ministry Residency | 2021

Immanuel is currently developing and piloting a Ministry Residency Program that combines “hands-on” ministry experience with support for individuals discerning a vocational call to ministry. In 2021, Abigail Ebensberger and Will Eastham are helping us to explore and form how this process might work in our church.

Current Residents

Abigail Ebensberger | Worship Arts Resident

Abigail Ebensberger joined our staff as a Worship Arts Resident in August 2020. As a “resident,” Abigail leads our worship ministry at Immanuel while receiving time, coaching and resources to develop her ministry skills and to discern her long-term call toward vocational ministry in the Church.

A key part of the Ministry Residency Program we are building is fundraising. This is modeled after our cathedral church, Church of the Resurrection. Fundraising is a way of gathering a community of support around someone who is sensing a vocational call to ministry.

If you would like to give a gift to support Abigail in this Ministry Resident position, you can use the link below (or sign into Immanuel Online to set up a recurring gift).

Will Eastham | Pastoral Resident

Will Eastham fulfilled his North Park Pastoral Internship at Immanuel in the spring and fall of 2020, leading key prayer and discipleship initiatives. In January 2021, Will transitioned to becoming a non-staff Pastoral Resident in which he will further Immanuel’s spiritual beacon mission by continuing to preach and lead within Immanuel, make outside connections in the city and discern his ministry calling with Immanuel’s leaders.

As a non-staff ministry resident, Will receives mentorship from Fr. Aaron and a stipend for prayer retreats, conferences and other development resources. He works closely with Immanuel’s staff and is participating in a discernment cohort with one of Immanuel’s partners, The Chicago Partnership.
